We're Back

Really, I'm still alive. Last week, Blue and our husbands spent a glorious week on the sunny beaches of Destin, Florida. The week went by too fast. But it really was good to be home and take a shower in our nice water. And to come home and be able to drink tap water. Oh, our heavenly water. Do you really realize how good our water is? While we were in Florida, there was a segment on the Today Show about pre-packaged ice cubes and how much better they are than tap water ice cubes. Forget it! Aren't we so lucky that our water is that good that we don't need bottled water. Okay, enough about water.

We had a good time. We saw dolphins and sharks from our balcony. The husbands played golf a couple of times. Blue and I went golf ball hunting on the resort. Our husbands were proud. Really, there is a whole story about that. I'm hoping Blue will tell. If not, I have pictures!!

Hrmf.....I've tried to upload a picture, but Blogger is being stubborn. I'll try later.

11 weeks 3 days

Went to the doctor today. I told my husband he didn't have to go because all she was going to do was listen for the heartbeat, and since we had already heard it with the original ultrasound, I didn't figure he would be missing much. The doc took out her little hand held device and began prodding around for the heartbeat. Nothing. She told me not to worry, sometimes it takes a while to find it.......still nothing. Then she remembered that my uterus is tilted back, so she comforted me a little when she said that I would probably need to have an ultrasound done because the heartbeat is too far away for the little device. Okay, so I felt better but still a little...okay, a lot....concerned.

So, the girl starts the ultrasound, and right away we see the heartbeat. Whew! She showed me the hands and a knee. She is a great ultrasound tech girl (what's the technical name?). We did lots of looking. She said everything looked perfect. Heartbeat was 163. I got another picture. I hope Dave isn't disappointed that he wasn't there. The tech said to bring a VHS tape with me everytime, just in case of another surprise ultrasound. I don't think I will find out the sex at my next appointment. I will only be 15 weeks. The tech today really wanted to be able to tell.

Oh, the nurse went to weigh me, and I said "I'm sure I'm over 100 lbs now." So, she went to 100. Um, nope. Still haven't gained any weight. My clothes are starting to fit tighter, I just still don't eat as much. It's getting better though!!! I usually can eat, just small portions. Not quite up to what I used to eat. I used to could eat a regular combo meal at Backyard Burger. Now, I can't even finish a Kids Wacky Pak meal. Slowly, but surely and when the weight starts adding, I know you'll be laughing!

Diamonds are Forever

Yesterday was my 27th (cough) birthday. I felt terrible. Go figure. Anyway, Dave convinced me to get ready so he could take me to pick out my birthday present. I so did not feel like it, but I knew he wanted to go, so I went.

Wanna know what I got?

Diamond stud earrings! They are beautiful 5/8 c, princess cut, never leaving my ears, earrings.

He is building a strong case for that new motorcycle.

Sunday

Sunday, Blue and I went to a movie while our hubbies played golf in the near 100 degree weather. I don't see the fascination. But, after the movie, Blue droppped me off and I laid down on the couch to rest. No TV, no lights, nothing. A few minutes later, the hubby came home all hot from his golf game. He sat on the love seat. Still, no TV, no lights, nothing. It was so nice. We just talked for about an hour. I love it when we can do that.

We got on the subject of these married friends of ours. The wife (and mother of a 2 1/2 year old) had been wanting a motorcycle. She took the safety course for it and was dying to go buy one. The husband, Mr. B, and the wife, Mrs. B, had been discussing it and had supposedly made an agreement. If the cost of the bike and insurance was no more than X amount per month, then she could get one. Well, Mrs. B went with her brother (who also owns a bike) on Saturday to "look" at bikes. She found one she wanted. She called Mr. B and told him what the monthly cost of just the bike would be. It was more than they had agreed on. He reminded her that they had an agreement. Next thing, she bought the bike. She bought the freaking bike with total disregard to the agreement between her and her husband, people. Then she put her brother on the phone to argue that she got a good deal. Umm, that is not her brother's agreement. I just don't understand how a marriage can work like that. It hasn't always been Mrs. B. Mr. B has gone out and bought new vehicles and then told Mrs. B about it after the fact. What!!! The split bills, and if it works for you, then great. But it doesn't seem they do anything together.

So, the hubby and I started talking about us. About how we have learned from each of our parents (mine, divorced. his, irresponsible) instead of following in their footsteps. We talked about how we have never fought over money (because we respect each other enough not to sink ourselves into bankruptcy), how we discuss things, and how confident we are that we have what it takes to make it forever together. My husband already has a motorcycle, but he really wants a new, bigger one. But, he told me he wouldn't even consider looking until I have been convinced and in agreeance with him on getting another one. I'm not there yet, by the way. That never worried me anyway. There is complete trust, bothways. Then, we went to Red Lobster and had a wonderful dinner. It was a good Sunday.

I am so lucky to have my husband. He is the rational to my irrational, the calm to my manic. I truly believe we have it. Now, if I could only learn to sleep with him........LOL.
